Hey Hashers, Hoşgeldiniz, Welcome…!
“Rather act, than talk”, that was my motto and here we are eventually…! Due to the worldwide problems recently, our 1000th Run organization was affected partly, which resulted in sponsorship and participation cancellations! I still feel pity for that! You have to know that even a force majeure case was in discussion!
You may say, that the saying, “Good judgement comes from experience, good experience comes from bad judgement" was escorting me through the whole stages of our organization.
Nevertheless, enjoy the AnkaraHHH 1000th Run Weekend in Cappadocia now, whereby, don’t think much, speak little and drink more...!
I thank to all Ankara Hashers who were so kind to help and support this event…However, I have to thank particularly to Panties, who put all her effort to make this weekend to a 1000Th Run Event…!
One last word: Before I came to hash I was confused about it, particularly when I saw the hashers in the circle. Having experienced the hash, I am still confused. But on a higher level…J And again: We Do It In Any Weather Anyway, Anyhow….J! Got it?

Welcome Ankara Hashers, Hashers from Turkey, Hashers from Around the World!
Well,
we finally made it! Over the course of 18 years, one month and two weeks, since
17 March 1985, Ankara Hashers have always been true to their motto “We Do It
In Any Weather”, and this weekend we will have met 1000 times. It never
mattered whether it was under the scorching sun, balmy skies, pouring rain, a
half-meter of snow, or even in –15°C icy cold; the most important thing for us
was to be together among friends. Meeting 1000 times is indeed quite a feat,
especially for a mismanaged group of iconoclasts who, tongue-in-cheek,
call themselves “the running club with a drinking problem.” We have also put
Ankara on the Hashing Map: We hosted EuroHash’99 in Cappadocia, which brought
about 365 hashers from around the world to Turkey. And we donated the proceeds
from EuroHash’99 to construct a playground for school children orphaned in the
two devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey in 1999. The Hash is also socially
active in Ankara: planting trees, collecting trash, and doing other
community-service activities.
Personally, it’s been a pleasure being a member and friend of the Ankara Hash and having the unique opportunity to be the GM during this 1000th Run Weekend. Thanks to everyone on the Committee for your dedication and support in putting this event together. Most of all, we should thank all Hashers – past and present – in Ankara, Turkey and around the world for making it all possible. Have fun and enjoy yourselves!
